Making a Wooden Tangram Puzzle Game

Here's a nice simple woodworking project to try over the weekend.  In this Creative Daddy Bear tutorial I'll show you how I made a tangram puzzle game.

Materials needed; 190 x 190 x 5 mm plywood or hardboard, 190 x 190 x 18 mm MDF, wood glue and seven different colours.

Tools needed; Bandsaw (any kind of saw will work), clamps, disc sander or just sandpaper (120 grit)


Step 1: Print Template

Stick printed template to your 190 x 190 x 18mm MDF board.

Step 2: Cut-out the Design

Cut out the template lines using a band saw, coping saw or scroll saw.

Step 3: Build Tangram Frame

Using PVA glue, clamp the outer MDF frame to your plywood base.

Step 4: Painting

Select seven bright acrylic colours and paint each individual part of the puzzle.

Step 5: Sanding

Saning the puzzle parts
Sand the frame and puzzle parts and round the ends.

Step 6: Complete the Puzzle

Now for the hardest part, complete the wooden tangram puzzle game.
